Powder, is a short story written by Tobias Wolff. Tobias portrayed in his story a father and son strong relationship. The son was the narrator of the story, it made it easier for the reader to imagine the father and son relationship. In my opinion, this story is very engaging and interesting.
This story is mainly about the happy moments the father has with his son.
His son is a conservative, controlling, and scheduled boy. Always worried of what he needed to do for the next days or even months. Just before Christmas, his father decided to take him to ski at Mount Baker.
The father promised her wife that he would take care of him and that they would be back before Christmas Eve. At the end of the day, the boy felt blessed to have a father like his, it was a role model for him.
His father was both rebel he took a minor to a bar and took the car in a prohibited road and a father that took care of his son. I really liked the message that Tobias Wolff tried to give to the readers. The key in having a good life is living every moment of your life at your fullest. People should just worry for the present and not stress themselves for things that will happen the next week or the next month.
In other words, we should all live at the moment.
I would surely recommend this story, especially to teenagers they usually get very stressed on school. The author of the short story "Say Yes," Tobias Wolff, uses a number of symbols to express his different views on racism throughout the story.
